Description

Did you ever notice how many photographers talk in the third person about themselves on their websites/blogs etc.? Of course! You are famous and people keep talking about you, so why not talk in the third person about yourself! What a critical loss of touch with reality.
Recently i red a flyer of an insurance and i saw a really genious PR tactic:
The pseudo interview.

There, the seller was asked questions but obviously he was the questioner at the same time: “Mister Superbrain, we do we all NEED your insurance? Please, please tell us!” I think by this genious coup he suggests a pseudo objectivity that directly accesses the subconsious.
Furthermore the pseudo interview suggests that there is a large public community, that is interested in him. So what this effects, is the thought that if hundrets of people are interested in his words, he must be someone really highly respected.

Those photographers talking in the third person about themselves want to archieve the same effect. You should think: “Oh look, someone is writing about him, so he is objectivly an awesome photographer!”

For me, this self promotion ist the climax of a merciless overestimation of one’s own capabilities until to creating of a new reality whre you are the one, you would like to be so much.

Dreams are immense important to advance. Losing touch with reality is dangerous.
